Autonomous technology developer Mach is launching a platform to adapt commercial lawn mowers for autonomous use on solar project sites. The technology integrates with major commercial mower brands, allowing solar asset owners to deploy rugged, dealer-supported machinery with driverless capability. Mach’s platform aims to address operational challenges such as narrow clearances, dense panel shadows, and GPS-degraded zones while avoiding infrastructure strikes.

Mach’s proprietary RTK-GNSS automation infrastructure enables mowers to operate automatically in conditions with dusty, tall grass and sun glare. The system is designed to avoid structural and electrical elements on solar arrays, ensuring safe and efficient vegetation management. Mowers can be deployed across multiple sites and managed by a single operator, enhancing scalability for solar developers.

The platform maintains compatibility with the original manufacturer’s maintenance and support systems, ensuring continuity for equipment owners. Mach emphasizes that its ecosystem approach provides a turnkey solution for solar developers to scale vegetation management across gigawatts of capacity. The technology is positioned as a practical upgrade for existing commercial mowers.

Mach will showcase its autonomous solar mowing platform at RE+ 26, held from Nov. 16 to 19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth W16676. The demonstration will highlight the platform’s capabilities and integration with commercial mowers for solar site operations.
