Key points
·
AWS WAF now supports Stripe for monetizing AI agent traffic with stablecoin payments settled in local currency.
·
Users connect Stripe via Stripe Connect in the AWS WAF console without altering existing pricing or agent policies.
·
The integration is available at no additional charge to AWS WAF customers using Amazon CloudFront in supported edge locations.

AWS WAF has introduced a new integration with Stripe, enabling publishers, content owners, and API providers to monetize traffic from AI bots and agents. Payments are collected in stablecoins and settled directly into a Stripe balance in local currency, eliminating the need for users to hold stablecoins or manage crypto wallets. This integration expands AWS WAF’s existing stablecoin payout options, providing an additional method for revenue collection. The feature is designed to streamline monetization for those leveraging AI-driven access to protected content.

To activate the Stripe payout method, users must connect their Stripe account to AWS WAF through Stripe Connect within the AWS WAF console. Existing pricing models and agent policies remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for current configurations. When an AI agent requests protected content, AWS WAF responds with an HTTP 402 status, specifying accepted payment credential types. Upon receiving valid payment credentials from the agent, the content is delivered without restrictions.

Revenue generated from all payment providers, including Stripe, is tracked and displayed in the AWS WAF console’s revenue analytics. This provides users with a consolidated view of earnings from monetized AI agent traffic. The integration is available at no extra cost to AWS WAF customers using Amazon CloudFront, with support across all edge locations where AWS WAF web ACLs are linked to CloudFront distributions. Standard AWS WAF and Stripe processing fees continue to apply as outlined in AWS WAF pricing.

The Stripe integration is accessible immediately through the AWS WAF console or the AWS WAF Developer Guide. Users can begin monetizing AI agent traffic by following the provided setup instructions, ensuring a smooth transition to the new payout method. No changes to existing workflows are required beyond connecting the Stripe account and configuring payment acceptance policies.
