Mercado Bitcoin Brings SUI and Sui Dollar To Brazil
Mercado Bitcoin integrates Sui’s SUI, USDC, and USDsui into Brazil’s regulated crypto market, enabling real-time trading and collateral use, while exploring Bitcoin finance via Hashi and tokenized assets.
Mercado Bitcoin, Latin America’s largest crypto platform, is adding Sui’s native token SUI, USDC, and the Sui Dollar (USDsui) to its Brazilian exchange, marking the first regulated access to these assets in the region. Clients can now buy, sell, send, and receive Sui-based assets directly within Mercado Bitcoin’s platform, which operates under 10 regulatory licenses, including authorization from Brazil’s Central Bank and Securities Commission. The integration also allows USDsui to be used as collateral in Mercado Bitcoin’s lending products, expanding the utility of Sui’s stablecoin within Brazil’s regulated financial system.
The partnership introduces Hashi, Sui’s native Bitcoin orchestration layer, into Mercado Bitcoin’s ecosystem, with plans to explore its use in lending products. Hashi’s global testnet is live, and mainnet deployment is expected this month, though no products are currently available. Additionally, Mercado Bitcoin will bring its tokenized real-world asset (RWA) platform to Sui, creating one of the few regulated platforms where retail and institutional investors can access the same asset classes side by side. Since 2019, Mercado Bitcoin has issued over 800 tokenized assets, including receivables, structured credit, and real estate, all structured and tokenized in-house.
Mercado Bitcoin’s integration with Sui leverages its Pix payment system, enabling real-time conversion between Brazilian reais (BRL) and US dollar-denominated stablecoins. The platform is also expanding cross-border rails to the US and Portugal, with registration in Portugal for exchange and custody services. This infrastructure allows clients to move seamlessly between BRL and onchain assets 24/7, bypassing traditional settlement delays. The collaboration positions Sui for broader adoption in Brazil, a key market for digital assets in South America.
Sui’s stablecoin activity is accelerating, with fee-free transfers for supported stablecoins like USDC and USDsui at the protocol level. Network data shows over $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume settled on Sui in the past 12 months. Mercado Bitcoin’s access to Sui assets extends this momentum into Brazil, one of the world’s fastest-growing digital asset markets. The partnership also extends Sui’s presence to Mercado Bitcoin Portugal, which operates under MiCA regulations, further embedding Sui in both Brazilian and European markets.
