Justice Department to Conduct Election Monitoring in New Hampshire Primary Election
The U.S. Department of Justice will monitor polling sites in Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire, during the primary election to ensure federal voting rights compliance and transparency.
The Department of Justice announced today that it is deploying staff to monitor polling locations in Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire, as part of its ongoing election integrity efforts for the state’s primary election. The monitoring aims to ensure compliance with federal voting rights laws and to provide transparency during the voting process. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to maintain trust in elections nationwide. The Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section will oversee the operation, deploying four staff members to each city.

U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan for the District of New Hampshire highlighted the partnership between her office and the Civil Rights Division to uphold election integrity in the state. She emphasized the importance of New Hampshire’s elections, including its First-in-the-Nation Primary, in maintaining public confidence. Creegan noted that her office will continue collaborating with state and federal partners to ensure elections in New Hampshire are conducted fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws.
The Civil Rights Division enforces multiple federal statutes to protect voting rights, including the Voting Rights Act, National Voter Registration Act, Help America Vote Act, and others. From now until Election Day on November 3, personnel will be available to address public questions and complaints regarding potential violations of federal voting rights laws. The Department has also provided a contact point for jurisdictions seeking election monitoring, at VEM@usdoj.gov.
