Joint Statement on Iran, 12 October
Nineteen nations jointly condemned Iran’s alleged covert attacks, including an incident at RAF Fairford, and warned of consequences for state-backed hostile activities.
A joint statement by 29 foreign ministers from Australia, Europe, North America, and the United States condemned Iran’s violent attacks, including lethal plotting, arson, sabotage, cyber-attacks, and hybrid activities directed at their countries and partners. The ministers highlighted Iran’s alleged involvement in an incident at RAF Fairford on 27 September, which the UK government has attributed to Iranian state actors. They noted that this event reflects the IRGC’s persistent use of covert networks and proxies to extend hostile operations beyond Iran’s borders.
The statement also referenced a recent campaign of attacks across Europe targeting Jewish communities, Iranian journalists, and U.S. interests, which was claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI). The ministers emphasized that any attempt by Iran to threaten, intimidate, or coerce individuals or entities within their territories through proxies or other means is unacceptable and will face a robust response.
The signatories warned that individuals or groups conducting hostile activities on behalf of Iran or any other state should expect to be identified, investigated, disrupted, and prosecuted. They underscored their commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, strengthening international coordination, and protecting communities from such threats.
The statement concluded with a call for anyone with information to contact the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Newsdesk, which is monitored around the clock, for a prompt response and further action.
