Introducing Vercel CI
Vercel introduces Vercel CI in Beta, a new continuous integration system that runs only affected tasks and scales compute dynamically to reduce wait times for code reviews and merges.
Coding agents are generating more pull requests, and each one must pass continuous integration before review or merging. Traditional CI systems rerun entire workflows for every push, even minor changes, leading to delays. Vercel CI addresses this by executing only the tasks impacted by code changes, minimizing unnecessary computations and reducing wait times for developers.
Vercel CI integrates with Turborepo to identify task dependencies and inputs, using the existing turbo.json configuration to avoid redundant setup. Tasks are tagged for CI execution, and Remote Cache ensures unchanged tasks are retrieved instantly. The system spins up compute resources on-demand via Hive, Vercel’s compute layer, scaling resources precisely to the task’s needs and eliminating idle capacity.
Setup for Vercel CI is streamlined through a guided process using the Vercel CLI or MCP. Developers can select initial tasks, configure the system, and open a pull request with minimal effort. Once active, CI results appear in the Vercel dashboard, CLI, or MCP, with detailed logs and failure analysis to help teams debug efficiently and maintain branch protection rules.
Vercel CI has processed nearly 8 million tasks during its private beta, demonstrating significant performance improvements. The system is now available in Beta on all plans, offering faster CI cycles and reduced compute waste. Teams can adopt it immediately to accelerate their development workflows and shorten the path from code to production.
