Vercel has integrated Redis command execution and key browsing into its Marketplace database browser, enabling developers to manage Redis databases without leaving the dashboard. The feature supports both Redis and Upstash for Redis integrations, allowing users to run commands, inspect results, and browse keys directly. Previously, developers relied on redis-cli or third-party database interfaces to interact with Redis, which required switching between tools. The new functionality streamlines workflows by centralizing database management within the Vercel environment.

The CLI tab in the database browser lets users execute Redis commands and view outputs, with support for multi-line commands and MULTI/EXEC transactions. Commands can be separated by newlines or semicolons, and results are displayed in a structured format. This feature reduces context switching and simplifies debugging by keeping all operations within the Vercel interface. The CLI maintains compatibility with standard Redis syntax, ensuring familiar usage for developers.

The Browser tab provides a visual interface to explore Redis keys, either as a flat list or grouped by prefix, with filtering options by type or pattern. Users can select individual keys to inspect their values and metadata, including type, TTL, encoding, and size. Supported value types range from strings and JSON to complex structures like hashes, lists, sets, and sorted sets. This tool replaces the need for external Redis clients when inspecting or managing data within Vercel projects.

Access to the new tabs is currently restricted to team members with the Owner role, ensuring controlled access to sensitive database operations. The feature is documented in the Marketplace storage documentation, which provides guidance on usage and limitations. Vercel has not announced broader role-based access at this time, focusing on secure defaults for database management.
