At gamescom 2026, a new demo of Minecraft Dungeons II introduced the hub town Brave Haven, where players can upgrade and customize equipment through two new NPCs: the Blacksmith and the Enchantsmith. The Blacksmith allows permanent upgrades to any owned item for a fee, while the Enchantsmith lets players apply new effects using currency from Soul Corrupted enemies. These systems aim to reduce reliance on finding stronger loot and enable deeper build customization.
The combat system emphasizes aggression, with brief cooldowns and a mix of ranged and melee attacks, supported by Artifacts for additional abilities. A minecart fast-travel system connects Brave Haven to Overworld maps, though players still face waves of enemies. The demo highlighted the Copper Monstrosity, a new boss with varied attack patterns, including lightning AOE and arena-dashing moves, testing players' ability to adapt under pressure.
New accessibility features were also demonstrated, such as an onscreen inventory menu for quick swaps, particularly useful for couch co-op players sharing a single screen. The Effects and Enchantments menu consolidates all item effects into one list, allowing players to analyze and refine their builds. These changes reflect Mojang's focus on improving both casual and hardcore experiences in the sequel.
Minecraft Dungeons II launches on September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, and Game Pass. It will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Xbox Play Anywhere enabling cross-platform play at no extra cost.
