Amazon EC2 C7i-flex instances now available in Europe (Milan) region

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the availability of Amazon EC2 C7i-flex instances in the Europe (Milan) region, powered by custom 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Sapphire Rapids). These processors are exclusive to AWS and deliver up to 15% better performance compared to similar x86-based Intel processors offered by other cloud providers. The instances are designed to optimize price performance for compute-intensive workloads. The announcement expands AWS’s infrastructure options for customers in the Milan region, supporting a range of applications with improved efficiency.

C7i-flex instances are positioned as a cost-effective solution for workloads that do not fully utilize all compute resources. They offer sizes from large to 16xlarge and provide up to 19% better price-performance compared to the previous generation C6i instances. AWS describes these instances as the easiest way to achieve price performance benefits for a majority of compute-intensive workloads. The instances support common use cases such as web and application servers, databases, caches, Apache Kafka, and Elasticsearch.

The new instances are available immediately in the Europe (Milan) region, adding to AWS’s existing global footprint.
