Amazon EC2 R8i instances are now available in Israel (Tel Aviv) region
AWS launched Amazon EC2 R8i instances in the Israel (Tel Aviv) region, featuring custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth than prior Intel-based instances.
Amazon Web Services announced the availability of Amazon EC2 R8i instances in the Israel (Tel Aviv) region, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors exclusive to AWS. The new instances deliver up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5 times more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation Intel-based instances in the cloud. Performance gains vary by workload, with up to 30% faster PostgreSQL databases, 60% faster NGINX web applications, and 40% faster AI deep learning recommendation models compared to R7i instances.
R8i instances are designed for memory-intensive workloads, particularly those requiring the largest instance sizes or sustained high CPU usage. The lineup includes 13 sizes, two bare metal options, and a new 96xlarge size tailored for the largest applications. AWS notes the instances are SAP-certified, delivering 142,100 aSAPS, the highest performance among comparable machines in on-premises and cloud environments.
Customers can access R8i instances through the AWS Management Console, purchasing via Savings Plans, On-Demand instances, or Spot instances. AWS provides pricing details on the Amazon EC2 pricing page, with no additional fees for the new region. The instances are available immediately in the Israel (Tel Aviv) region.
