Amazon EC2 X8i instances are now available in additional regions
AWS expands Amazon EC2 X8i instances to Europe (Milan) and Europe (Spain) regions, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the availability of Amazon EC2 X8i instances in the Europe (Milan) and Europe (Spain) regions starting today. These instances run on custom Intel Xeon 6 processors exclusive to AWS and are certified for SAP workloads. The expansion provides customers in these regions with access to high-performance computing resources tailored for memory-intensive applications.
X8i instances deliver up to 43% higher performance and 1.5x more memory capacity—up to 6TB—compared to the previous generation X2i instances. They also offer 3.3x greater memory bandwidth, supporting workloads such as SAP HANA, large databases, data analytics, and Electronic Design Automation (EDA). The instances are available in 14 sizes, including two bare metal options, catering to diverse computing needs.
Performance benchmarks indicate significant improvements over X2i instances, including up to 50% higher SAPS performance, 47% faster PostgreSQL performance, 88% faster Memcached performance, and 46% faster AI inference performance. These enhancements position X8i instances as a robust solution for demanding enterprise workloads.
Customers can deploy X8i instances through the AWS Management Console using Savings Plans, On-Demand, or Spot instances. For additional details, AWS directs users to the dedicated X8i instances page on its website.
