Amazon Managed Grafana now supports in-place upgrades from Grafana version 12.4 to 13.2, enabling users to adopt new features without creating a new workspace. The upgrade process is available in all AWS regions where Amazon Managed Grafana operates. Users can initiate the upgrade through the AWS Console, AWS SDK, or AWS CLI with minimal steps. This change simplifies version management and reduces operational overhead for existing deployments.

The upgrade to Grafana 13.2 introduces Git Sync for dashboards, allowing teams to link workspaces to Git repositories. Dashboard changes can be tracked, reviewed, and reverted using version control, treating dashboards as code. This feature enhances collaboration and governance for dashboard management across teams.

Dynamic dashboards are now supported, providing a more adaptable layout and paneling approach. These dashboards respond to data and variable conditions, enabling responsive views that adjust automatically. This improves the flexibility and usability of dashboards in Amazon Managed Grafana.

PromQL query support has been added to the Amazon CloudWatch data source plugin. Users can now query metrics ingested via CloudWatch’s OpenTelemetry endpoint using Prometheus Query Language. This expands query capabilities beyond existing Metric Search and Metrics Insights options, offering more precise metric analysis.
