AWS DataSync Enhanced mode has expanded its compatibility to include Amazon FSx for Windows File Server and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP as both source and destination locations. This update allows users to perform Windows-to-Windows data transfers, such as moving files from an on-premises file server to FSx for Windows File Server. The enhancement also supports transfers involving FSx for NetApp ONTAP, broadening the range of supported storage systems.

Enhanced mode agents can now operate on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization version 4.20 or later, adding to existing deployment options like VMware ESXi, KVM, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Amazon EC2. This integration provides greater flexibility in where agents can be deployed, supporting hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Users can select Enhanced mode directly when creating a task in the AWS DataSync console.

The Enhanced mode offers improved performance by processing data in parallel, which removes file count limitations and provides detailed metrics for data transfer operations. This mode now supports the same location options as Basic mode, ensuring consistency in functionality while delivering higher throughput. The capabilities are available across all AWS Regions where DataSync Enhanced mode is supported.

To begin using these features, users can select Enhanced mode when configuring a task in the AWS DataSync console. Additional details and guidance are available in the AWS DataSync documentation. The update aims to streamline data transfer processes for users managing diverse storage environments.
