AWS Backup now supports cross-account management and cross-account backup in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud
AWS Backup introduces cross-account management and backup features in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) Region, enabling centralized control and data protection across organizational accounts.
AWS Backup now supports cross-account management in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) Region, allowing organizations to centrally deploy backup policies from a management or delegated administrator account. This feature enables unified oversight of backup, copy, and restore operations across all accounts within an AWS Organizations setup. The change simplifies policy enforcement and reduces administrative overhead by consolidating control in a single location.
Cross-account backup functionality has been added, enabling recovery points to be copied to a backup vault in another account within the same organization. This capability enhances data resilience by protecting against accidental or malicious deletion in the source account, ensuring backup integrity across multiple accounts.
Organizations can now designate delegated administrators for AWS Backup, allowing teams to manage backups without requiring access to the management account. This delegation model supports role-based access control and improves operational efficiency by distributing administrative responsibilities.
There is no additional charge for these cross-account capabilities; standard AWS Backup pricing applies. Users can access documentation and the AWS Backup console to implement these features immediately.
