AWS Health introduces the version catalog for software lifecycle management
AWS Health launches a version catalog to centralize software lifecycle data, enabling proactive version upgrades and end-of-support risk management across AWS services.
AWS Health has introduced the version catalog, a centralized repository for lifecycle information about software versions across AWS services. This tool shifts customers from reactive to proactive management by providing visibility into supported versions and their timelines. It is accessible via the AWS Health Dashboard and through the AWS Health API for customers with Business Support Plus, Enterprise Support, or Unified Operations plans.
The version catalog enhances operational workflows by offering a service-wide view of supported versions, allowing customers to plan upgrades and governance controls in advance. It complements existing Planned Lifecycle Events, which already notify customers of major version end-of-support milestones well ahead of time. Customers can now build upgrade schedules and migrate to newer supported versions before receiving account-specific alerts.
At launch, the version catalog includes support for multiple AWS services such as Amazon RDS, Amazon EKS, and AWS Lambda, with additional services to be added over time. This ensures broader coverage for customers managing diverse workloads across AWS environments. The catalog is available in all AWS Commercial Regions, providing consistent access to lifecycle data.
To begin using the version catalog, customers can visit the AWS Health Dashboard or review the documentation for detailed guidance. This tool aims to streamline version management and reduce operational risks associated with outdated software versions.
