Amazon Web Services announced that OpenAI’s Daybreak Red and Daybreak Blue models are now available to eligible customers on Amazon Bedrock. The models are part of OpenAI’s Daybreak initiative, which provides governed access to frontier AI for cybersecurity purposes. Daybreak Blue supports defensive workflows such as vulnerability discovery, detection engineering, and incident response, while Daybreak Red is tailored for advanced tasks like vulnerability research and exploit reproduction.

Daybreak Red operates with a lower refusal threshold and stricter identity verification, monitoring, and access controls to enhance investigative speed and depth. Both models run on Bedrock’s next-generation inference engine with zero-operator access enforced at the chip level. AWS emphasized that inference data is not used for model training, and customers are not required to opt into data sharing with OpenAI.

The models, named Daybreak Red: GPT-5.6 Cyber and Daybreak Blue: GPT-5.6 Sol, are available in the US East (N. Virginia) AWS Region. Access is contingent on enrollment in Daybreak through OpenAI, which can be initiated by contacting OpenAI or the customer’s AWS account team for eligibility guidance.

Once approved, customers must work with their AWS account team to request access on Amazon Bedrock. Additional details are available in OpenAI’s blog post about the Daybreak initiative and its cybersecurity applications.
