Web Search on AWS Bedrock now supports domain filtering and user location controls
AWS Bedrock’s Web Search now allows domain filtering and user location controls to refine model response grounding, available in four AWS Regions.
AWS Bedrock’s Web Search tool has introduced two new controls—domain filtering and user location—to refine the sources used for grounding model responses. These controls are configured directly within the existing OpenAI Responses API request using the web_search tool. Domain filtering lets users restrict results to up to 100 allowed or blocked domains, ensuring responses rely only on trusted sources or exclude specified sites.
User location controls enable users to specify geographic parameters so Web Search returns location-relevant results, improving accuracy for queries tied to regional availability or local services. Both features are designed to enhance precision in grounding responses by tailoring results to specific domains or geographic contexts.
The new controls are available in all AWS Regions where Web Search is supported, including US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). Users can implement these features immediately by following the Web Search section in the AWS Bedrock User Guide.
