Arm’s new Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU is the first AI-native Mali GPU, embedding neural accelerators directly into the shader cores to run neural graphics workloads alongside traditional rendering. This integration reuses GPU memory and caches, reducing data movement and improving efficiency across the pipeline. The design targets mobile constraints by enabling richer visuals and smoother frame rates without exceeding power or thermal limits.
The GPU introduces a new execution engine with up to 2x more registers per wrap, supporting more complex scenes and improving performance by up to 24% in benchmarks and 14% in non-AI gaming versus the prior generation. Combined with neural acceleration, it supports up to 120 FPS for smoother gameplay while maintaining efficiency. Hardware ray tracing in its third generation reduces DRAM traffic by up to 13% on benchmarks, easing memory pressure as scene complexity grows.
Arm’s Neural Dawn demo, developed with Sumo Digital, shows how integrating neural frame reconstruction and super sampling delivers up to 4x higher performance efficiency and 70% lower external memory traffic than native rendering. This enables advanced techniques like Unreal Engine MegaLights on mobile devices, preserving image quality while reducing GPU workload.
Arm has prepared the software ecosystem for two years, offering the Arm Neural Graphics Development Kit with tools, APIs, and engine plug-ins to integrate neural graphics into existing workflows. Early adopters like Where Winds Meet are integrating Arm Neural Technology into production engines, signaling broader adoption of neural graphics in mobile gaming.
