Agentic Pipelines is generally available: run agents in Cloud or on your own Linux runners
Atlassian’s Agentic Pipelines is now generally available on paid Bitbucket Cloud plans, letting teams run AI agents on cloud or self-hosted Linux runners to automate routine engineering tasks.
Agentic Pipelines is now generally available across all paid Cloud Bitbucket plans, enabling teams to run AI agents either on Atlassian’s cloud runners or on self-hosted Linux Docker runners, with additional runner types planned for future releases. The feature transforms Bitbucket Pipelines from a traditional CI/CD tool into an intelligent workflow engine designed to boost developer productivity by automating repetitive tasks such as diagnosing test failures, updating documentation, and fixing vulnerabilities.
Developers can offload routine engineering chores to agents within their pipelines, allowing them to focus on higher-value work that requires human judgment. Platform teams managing CI/CD can use agentic steps in core pipelines to scale productivity improvements across their organizations, with measurable gains reported internally during the beta phase.
Since the beta release, Atlassian has added support for Linux Docker runners on both x86_64 and arm64 architectures, enabling agentic pipelines for self-hosted environments. The platform now supports multiple AI providers, including Claude and Codex, with additional providers expected in the future, and offers four built-in system agents to address common use cases like fixing flaky tests and optimizing test coverage.
Agentic Pipelines integrates natively with Atlassian’s Rovo MCP server, allowing agents to securely access requirements from Jira, documentation from Confluence, and history from Bitbucket without complex configurations. The feature requires a paid Bitbucket Cloud plan with Pipelines enabled and supports custom agent definitions in YAML, with migration guidance provided for existing Rovo Dev CLI users.
