Meet the all-new Loom for Mac: faster, sharper, and delightful by default
Atlassian released a rebuilt native Loom for Mac app with instant recording, automatic screen decluttering, and AI-ready video prompts, designed for macOS 15+.
The updated Loom for Mac app launches with a native rebuild to run natively on macOS 15 and later, replacing the legacy foundation to deliver faster launch times and smoother performance during recording sessions. The app now appears directly in the menu bar for instant access, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple windows before starting a capture. Users can begin recording immediately without waiting for the app to load or configure settings, reducing the friction that often delays async video communication.
A new automatic screen decluttering feature uses real-time awareness of windows and the recording area to hide desktop icons, the menu bar, and background notifications before the recording starts. This ensures viewers see only the intended content, while sensitive tabs, bookmarks, or files remain private without manual desktop cleanup. The feature relies on deeper screen and window context integration to maintain a professional appearance in every video.
The rebuilt camera pipeline introduces customizable camera bubble shapes—including squircle, portrait, and landscape frames—along with one-click instant filters, custom backgrounds, and drag-and-drop repositioning. The app also supports smart edge-snapping to keep the camera bubble visible without obstructing on-screen elements, improving both aesthetics and usability during recordings.
The app provides granular control over capture areas, allowing users to select specific windows, custom regions, or full-screen views via drag-to-select, with support for crisp 4K resolution and smoother frame rates. A refreshed teleprompter and speaker notes, powered by Rovo’s AI, convert spoken ideas into structured talking points in real time, enabling natural delivery without breaking eye contact with the camera.
