Preparatory works for Building 140 at CERN’s Meyrin campus will commence on 17 August 2026 and run until 18 December 2026. The initial phase involves diverting and installing utility networks, including water, electricity, and data systems, to support the future building. Route Bakker will be temporarily widened to maintain at least one traffic lane and ensure pedestrian safety during the works. Temporary traffic and parking adjustments will be implemented, while pedestrian access remains uninterrupted.
Cyclists are advised to follow the same lane arrangements as vehicles during the preparatory works. The utility diversion phase will be followed by a second preparatory phase in early 2027, which includes demolishing Building 25 and removing the remaining slab from the former Building 102. These steps are necessary to clear the site before the main construction of Building 140 begins.
