Everything we launched during Birthday Week 2026
Cloudflare marked its 16th birthday with Birthday Week 2026, unveiling 46 new products and initiatives to modernize internet infrastructure, enhance security, and support developers and agents.
Cloudflare celebrated its 16th anniversary by launching 46 new products and features during Birthday Week 2026, addressing challenges posed by AI-driven internet growth and automated traffic. The week focused on open-source contributions, application security, post-quantum cryptography, and tools for developers and agents. Projects included a new CLI, an open-source pipeline called Forge, and EmDash, an Astro-based serverless CMS. Interns contributed to several launches, including EmDash and post-quantum visibility tools.
The company announced plans to become a public certificate authority to issue free Merkle Tree Certificates, aiming to simplify post-quantum authentication without increasing costs. Cloudflare also introduced CryptoLabe, an AI tool to classify cryptography in its codebase as part of its post-quantum migration by 2029. Additionally, it developed an IETF extension to authenticate IKEv2 transcripts and prevent downgrade attacks on post-quantum IPsec tunnels.
New developer tools included Vinext 1.0 for running Next.js applications on Vite, Kitesurf for agent-based browsing with WebMCP support, and experimental Emscripten target support for Rust libraries in Workers. BEACON was launched as a public BigQuery dataset containing billions of anonymized performance measurements from 10,000 major websites. VoidZero’s platform, previously commercial, will become fully open source, with over 80 releases delivered since joining Cloudflare.
Cloudflare also expanded its application security framework with features like Application Profiles for identifying HTTP request deviations and an adaptive AI red-team system to improve WAF detection. Threat Signals converts open-source threat reports into structured indicators linked to WAF rules, while the Threat Events Platform now covers every account. The Cold Start initiative offers early-stage companies a chance to pitch at Cloudflare Connect for growth resources.
