A CoinGate analysis of nearly 2.5 million orders where shoppers selected a cryptocurrency and network found the top-ranked coin completed payments 29 percentage points more often than the lowest. The study focused on orders that reached the pending stage, meaning the shopper had already chosen a coin and network, isolating completion rates from initial selection abandonment. Litecoin led with a completion rate of about three in four, while Dogecoin finished slightly less than half the time, despite Bitcoin and USDC carrying over half the total orders.

The completion gap persisted across the full year, with Litecoin, Tron, and Ethereum consistently ranking highest in both halves of the study period. Dogecoin remained last in both periods. To rule out merchant-specific effects, CoinGate compared completion rates for individual merchants handling at least 100 orders per asset, finding Litecoin outperformed other assets at 96% of these merchants by a median of ten points.

Payment speed and basket size were ruled out as explanations for the completion differences. Litecoin, the slowest network in the study, had the highest completion rate, while Solana, the fastest, completed ten points below the median. Similarly, Litecoin had the smallest median order size at 8.74 EUR, but the next three smallest baskets—POL, BNB, and Solana—all ranked in the bottom half of completion rates.

The study covered orders created between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, focusing on ten assets with full-year data. Bitcoin Cash, USDT, and EURC were excluded due to incomplete data windows. CoinGate emphasized that while the cause of these completion differences remains unexplained, the observed effect is consistent and actionable for merchants.
