Unity AI Gateway is Generally Available
Databricks announced the general availability of Unity AI Gateway, a unified platform for governing AI spend, security, and access across enterprise AI tools and agents.
Unity AI Gateway is now generally available to help enterprises manage rising AI costs and security risks as adoption scales. The platform provides end-to-end observability, cost controls, and smart routing to track spending and optimize AI investments. It supports governance across agents, models, and tools while preserving developer flexibility. Organizations can enforce budgets, set spend caps, and gain granular cost attribution through centralized dashboards.
AI agents introduce new challenges in controlling access to sensitive data and enforcing policies at runtime. Unity AI Gateway applies guardrails and contextual policies to protect enterprise data while allowing developers to choose models and tools. It integrates with Unity Catalog to provide identity, permissions, and auditing for AI assets. The platform supports thousands of enterprise customers, including Rivian, Asana, and Edmunds, with over a quadrillion tokens processed annually.
Smart Routing, currently in beta, dynamically directs AI requests to the most cost-effective models based on quality, performance, and budget. This feature helps organizations maximize AI value without sacrificing developer productivity. Frontier models from providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google are accessible via a single API, enabling easy model swapping.
