eBay published its 2025 Impact Report, outlining progress in sustainability, small business support, and employee development. The report highlights how the company’s platform and technology expanded economic opportunity while promoting circular commerce. Small businesses accounted for approximately 70% of total sales GMV in the U.S., U.K., and Germany, with initiatives like AI Activate and OPEN25 providing training and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The report details eBay’s sustainability achievements, including $5.3 billion in positive economic impact from recommerce in 2025, up $300 million from the previous year. These sales helped avoid 1.6 million metric tons of carbon emissions and diverted over 71,000 metric tons of waste from landfills. eBay also met its five-year recommerce goals, maintaining 100% renewable energy usage across global operations for the second consecutive year.
eBay’s philanthropic efforts reached a record $198 million raised for nonprofits in 2025, bringing the total to over $1.7 billion since 2003. The eBay Foundation granted more than $17 million to organizations breaking down barriers to entrepreneurship, contributing to a cumulative $150 million awarded to over 1,800 nonprofits. Employee development initiatives included two global LearnFest AI Days, leadership courses for nearly 3,000 managers, and expanded health benefits such as no-cost cancer early detection and AI-powered Benefits Assistant.
The report also highlights eBay’s commitment to responsible AI and wildlife trafficking prevention. In 2025, the company blocked approximately 1.8 million potential violations of its Animal Products Policy, reinforcing its role as a founding member of the Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online. eBay’s Climate Transition Plan outlines a path to reducing emissions across its operations and value chain, reflecting its broader mission to build connected, inclusive, and sustainable communities.
