Firefly Aerospace Subsidiary SciTec Receives Agreement to Advance Space Force’s Space-Based Missile Defense Under Golden Dome
SciTec, a Firefly Aerospace subsidiary, secured a $3.2 billion Space Force contract to develop space-based missile interceptors under the Golden Dome program, with demonstrations planned by 2028.
SciTec, a Firefly Aerospace company, received an Other Transaction Authority agreement from U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to support the Space Based-Interceptor program. The initiative aims to build a space-based missile defense layer integrated into the Golden Dome architecture by 2028. SciTec is among 12 companies awarded contracts totaling up to $3.2 billion to develop next-generation tracking and interceptors enhanced with artificial intelligence.
The Space Force’s Golden Dome program seeks to counter advanced missile threats by deploying interceptors in space, leveraging AI for faster decision-making and improved tracking. SciTec will contribute AI-powered defense technologies to strengthen national missile defense capabilities. The agreement follows decades of SciTec’s work in missile defense, space domain awareness, and national security missions.
