9 times superhero movies made it onto the F1 grid
Formula 1 has featured multiple superhero movie crossovers, including Spider-Man and Deadpool-themed helmets, DC Comics liveries, and Marvel comic collaborations, blending motorsport with pop culture.
Haas driver Esteban Ocon has repeatedly embraced superhero themes, most recently donning a Spider-Man-themed helmet for the Belgian and Hungarian Grands Prix. The collaboration with *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* follows prior Spidey designs in 2022, 2025, and 2026, and includes appearances at the London premiere. Ocon also used a Deadpool-inspired helmet at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which he showcased to investor Ryan Reynolds, who plays the character.
Alpine F1 Team’s 2023 €200m investment included Hollywood figures like Reynolds and Michael B. Jordan, who featured in Marvel’s *Black Panther*. The partnership led to a Deadpool & Wolverine one-off livery for the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix, featuring a red and yellow scheme with claw marks on the A524 car, deviating from Alpine’s usual blue and pink colors.
Red Bull promoted *Superman Returns* at the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix with a Superman-themed livery and race suits, coinciding with the team’s first-ever podium finish. David Coulthard wore a red cape on the podium, and the livery’s success was noted. More recently, DC’s latest Superman actor, David Corenswet, visited the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix paddock and grid.
Williams Racing partnered with Marvel to feature drivers Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz in a one-shot comic book where Doctor Doom targets the podium. The collaboration includes special covers at events like Monaco, Miami, and Silverstone, with additional variants planned for Madrid, Singapore, Austin, and Las Vegas. The story pits the Williams duo against Doom alongside Iron Man and the Avengers.
