Google’s 2025 EU Economic Impact Report quantifies AI’s role in driving €200 billion in EU GDP growth, highlighting real-world gains from Irish skincare to Renault’s factory floors.
Google’s 2025 EU Economic Impact Report, commissioned by Google and developed by Implement Consulting Group, reveals that Google’s products, infrastructure investments, and AI technologies contributed over €200 billion to the EU’s GDP—approximately 1% of total EU GDP, comparable to the entire agriculture sector. The report underscores how digital technologies are transforming European businesses, with AI productivity gains averaging 4% among adopting firms without reducing employment, according to the European Investment Bank. The findings are based on data from 2024 and 2025, reflecting current economic impacts rather than projections.
In County Clare, Ireland, entrepreneur Danilly Carvalho used Google’s Gemini to analyze global consumer trends and rebrand her skincare business, IPERA. Within a year, her online sales increased by 45%, and her company expanded into seven countries. Renault Group similarly leveraged Google AI to modernize manufacturing, reducing factory downtime and production defects by half, saving between €100 and €120 million annually. These examples illustrate how AI is driving measurable economic progress across diverse sectors.
The report estimates that AI could add €1.2 trillion annually to the European economy within a decade, contingent on a supportive regulatory environment that fosters innovation rather than stifling it. Google has trained over 13 million people in the EU on digital and AI skills since 2014, emphasizing workforce readiness as a critical factor in realizing AI’s potential. The company’s long-term commitment to Europe includes 26 offices across 17 member states and eight data centers, supporting over 100,000 jobs.
Google’s partnership with European institutions, businesses, and communities spans 25 years, beginning with its first employee in Hamburg.
