IBM Expands Its Digital Banking Infrastructure with Swift Integration and Digital Asset Haven On-Premises
IBM expands IBM Digital Asset Haven with Swift blockchain integration and an on-premises beta, enabling regulated institutions to manage digital assets securely while maintaining compliance and operational control.
IBM announced two new capabilities for IBM Digital Asset Haven, a platform designed to help financial institutions and governments manage digital assets securely. The first allows clients to connect to permissioned blockchain networks, including Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger, enabling tokenized deposit transactions using standard ISO 20022 messages. This integration supports existing payment workflows and compliance processes, allowing institutions to explore digital asset transactions without adopting blockchain-specific workflows. The feature is available as a beta offering to IBM Digital Asset Haven clients.
IBM also introduced an on-premises beta deployment option for IBM Digital Asset Haven, enabling organizations to manage digital assets such as stablecoins and tokenized deposits entirely within their own data centers. The deployment runs on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE infrastructure, eliminating dependency on public cloud services. This option is designed to provide enterprise-grade security, performance, and scalability while maintaining full operational control for clients.
The Swift blockchain-based shared ledger, which connects 12,500 financial institutions across 200+ markets, supports bank-issued tokenized deposits and enables 24/7 movement of digital assets ahead of final settlement. Seventeen institutions are piloting tokenized deposit transactions on the ledger, demonstrating how banks can leverage existing standards and compliance processes to explore new digital money models.
IBM Digital Asset Haven was first launched in October 2025 with SaaS and hybrid deployment options. The platform has since been adopted by banking and payment institutions across multiple continents for digital asset use cases. The new on-premises beta expands deployment flexibility, allowing clients to integrate IBM Digital Asset Haven into their existing IBM infrastructure or scale capacity as needed.
