L3Harris and US Army Successfully Demonstrate First Red Wolf Flight from an MH-60
L3Harris and the U.S. Army completed the first flight of a Red Wolf air-launched effect from an MH-60 helicopter, advancing integration with H-60 variants for expanded mission capabilities.
L3Harris Technologies and the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command’s Systems Integration Management Office conducted the inaugural flight demonstration of an L3Harris Red Wolf air-launched effect launched from an MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The test occurred at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona and validated the compatibility of the launch system with rotary-wing platforms. This achievement follows prior successful demonstrations from fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and ground-based systems, reinforcing the adaptability of the Red Wolf system.
The demonstration established a pathway for integrating L3Harris’ launched effects air vehicles with Black Hawk helicopters and other H-60 variants, enhancing operational flexibility for the U.S. Army. Flight characteristics and system performance were evaluated in an operational environment, confirming the vehicle’s suitability for multi-domain missions. The test represents the 60th flight demonstration for L3Harris’ Wolf Pack portfolio, which includes Red Wolf and Green Wolf modular vehicles.
L3Harris emphasized the significance of the milestone in delivering reliable multi-domain capabilities to warfighters, noting the expanding operational envelope of launched effects vehicles. Quinlan Lyte, President of Advanced Effects at L3Harris, highlighted the company’s commitment to advancing mission readiness and addressing evolving threats through innovation. The demonstration underscores the growing role of modular, long-range precision strike systems in modern military operations.
The company also announced a teaming agreement with Divergent Technologies, Inc. to scale production and enhance capabilities for affordable mass munitions. L3Harris described its launched effects as capable of flying farther, striking faster, and dominating adversaries at reduced cost compared to traditional weapons, while maintaining standoff distance for safety.
