L3Harris Technologies and Shield AI completed a U.S. Army-supported flight test demonstrating autonomous electronic warfare capabilities. The test integrated the Deceptor electronic warfare payload, the DiSCO battle-management system, and Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy software on an L3Harris Green Wolf launched-effects platform. During the live flight demonstration, unmanned systems detected, analyzed, and responded to electromagnetic threats without human intervention, marking a significant milestone in autonomous EW operations.
The flight test validated the ability of unmanned aircraft systems to sense and characterize unknown electromagnetic threats in real time. Data from the Deceptor payload was shared through the DiSCO ecosystem, enabling Hivemind to autonomously reroute follow-on unmanned systems through safe operating zones without direct human input. The demonstration highlighted the flexibility of the Green Wolf platform, which carried both sensing and electronic-attack capabilities during the mission scenario.
L3Harris and Shield AI emphasized the operational impact of pairing autonomous decision-making with advanced spectrum battle management. Lauren Barnes, President of Spectrum Superiority at L3Harris, stated the test demonstrated rapid transformation of concepts into operational capability for the joint force, enhancing warfighter resilience against evolving threats.
The companies plan to expand mission applications and autonomy through open architecture for electronic warfare at the tactical edge. The test further validated Green Wolf’s role as a multi-mission platform supporting distributed and networked electronic warfare operations, with both firms continuing to develop integrated solutions for future defense requirements.
