Firefox for iOS now includes Quick Answers, a feature that allows users to ask questions using voice input and receive brief, direct answers. The function is activated by long-pressing the voice button in a new tab, providing either a quick response or links to additional sources for further exploration. This tool is designed to reduce distractions by delivering immediate answers without requiring multiple searches or opening new tabs. The feature is currently available to users in the U.S. who have set their language to English.
Voice processing for Quick Answers occurs entirely on the user’s device using Apple’s speech recognition technology, ensuring that raw audio is neither stored nor transmitted to external servers. Mozilla states that only the transcribed text of the question is sent to generate an answer, and browsing history or personal context is not shared with the AI model. This approach aims to address privacy concerns by minimizing data exposure during interactions.
Users can disable Quick Answers at any time through the Settings menu under AI Controls, providing flexibility to opt out of the feature if preferred. The rollout begins today for eligible Firefox for iOS users, with no additional cost or subscription required.
