Mozilla has introduced Firefox mobile browser features to help remote and on-the-go workers reduce distractions and improve productivity, including built-in ad blocking on iOS, Shake to Summarize, Tab Groups, and Firefox Sync.
Mobile browsers often become cluttered with ads, pop-ups, and lingering tabs, disrupting focus for remote workers. Mozilla’s new Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS is designed to minimize these interruptions by blocking intrusive ad formats, third-party ad networks, and ad-related trackers without requiring a separate extension. The feature uses EasyList filters and Apple’s WebKit Content Blocker technology to reduce screen clutter, though it does not block ads directly served by host sites or search results. Users can enable it in Settings under Browsing to create a cleaner browsing experience.
For those pressed for time, Firefox’s Shake to Summarize feature provides quick page summaries on both iOS and Android. By shaking a phone on pages under 5,000 words or selecting the option in the menu, users receive a concise overview of the content. The feature prioritizes privacy by using device-specific technology to secure user data and is available in seven languages. It launched on iOS in September and was recognized in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2025 before expanding to Android.
Managing multiple tabs across work and personal tasks can be overwhelming, especially on a single device. Firefox for Android now offers Tab Groups, allowing users to group related tabs into labeled, color-coded cards in the tab tray. This feature simplifies navigation by consolidating tabs into searchable groups, which can be renamed, recolored, or deleted as needed. Users can create groups by dragging tabs together or selecting multiple tabs and tapping ‘Add to group.’ iOS support for Tab Groups is expected in the future.
Switching between devices often disrupts workflow continuity, but Firefox Sync helps bridge that gap. The feature enables users to access open tabs, bookmarks, and passwords across phones, tablets, and laptops using end-to-end encryption for data privacy. By connecting a mobile device to a Mozilla account, users can seamlessly resume tasks started on another device. The feature is available on both iOS and Android, ensuring a consistent browsing experience wherever work takes users.
