NASA Invites Media to Turkey Artemis Accords Signing Ceremony

Turkey is set to join the Artemis Accords, a multilateral agreement established in 2020 under the U.S. State Department and NASA leadership. The ceremony will take place at NASA Headquarters in Washington on August 31 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, with Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman in attendance. The event is open to media by invitation only, with RSVP required by 11 a.m. EDT on the same day. NASA’s media accreditation policy is available online for reference.

The Artemis Accords were created to provide a framework for civil space exploration, focusing on safety, transparency, and coordination among participating nations. Originally established with eight founding signatories during the Trump administration, the accords now include 71 countries. The agreement aims to guide activities on the Moon, Mars, and beyond, addressing the increasing involvement of governments and private entities in space exploration.

The event will not be livestreamed, and attendance is restricted to in-person participants. NASA and the U.S. Department of State will jointly host the ceremony, reflecting the U.S. government’s commitment to international collaboration in space.
