Expert Intelligence: a new way for you to engage with trusted content
Google introduces Expert Intelligence, enabling users to integrate insights from purchased ebooks and trusted sources into Gemini Notebook, with initial support for over 100,000 titles and collaborations with major publishers and authors.
Google has launched Expert Intelligence, a new initiative allowing users to incorporate insights from leading authors, publications, and domain experts directly into Gemini Notebook. The feature supports ebooks purchased through Google Play Books, enabling users to ask questions and generate summaries, infographics, or quizzes based on the content. The initial rollout includes over 100,000 books from publishers such as Bloomsbury, Macmillan, and Penguin Random House, as well as curated notebooks from bestselling authors like Steven Pinker and Michael Pollan.
To access Expert Intelligence, users must own the book through Google Play Books, and shared notebooks will require collaborators to purchase their own copy to engage with the content. Eligible books are marked with a "Tools" badge on their detail page in Google Play Books, where users can also find a promotional offer for a free ebook in the U.S. while supplies last. The feature is designed to enhance content discovery and reader engagement with authors' works.
Expert Intelligence is currently available in Gemini Notebook but will expand to other Google AI products, including the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. Future updates will allow users to add third-party subscriptions, business research reports, and textbooks, broadening the scope of trusted sources accessible within the platform.
Google emphasizes its commitment to providing high-quality, trusted information through Expert Intelligence, which aims to help readers apply authors' lessons more effectively. The initiative also includes controls to ensure content ownership and proper attribution, reinforcing the importance of supporting authors and publishers while enabling deeper engagement with their work.
