Google’s Gemini Live now lets users control complex tasks, emails, and schedules entirely by voice, integrating with Google apps and adding features like Daily Brief and Personal Intelligence.
Gemini Live is expanding from a conversational assistant to a hands-free productivity tool that can manage multi-step tasks across Google services. Users can now organize documents, sort emails, or oversee projects using only voice commands, with the system handling background operations. The update requires enabling app connections in settings and activating the Live feature to begin. This shift aims to reduce screen time while maintaining control over daily workflows.
A new Daily Brief feature provides a spoken summary of the day’s priorities by pulling updates from Gmail and Calendar, delivered upon request. The hands-free inbox management allows users to search, summarize, or triage emails using voice prompts, such as checking for urgent messages from schools. These tools are designed to deliver quick, actionable insights without requiring manual navigation through apps, catering to users on the move.
Personal Intelligence integrates past conversations and connected Google services like Photos, Search, and YouTube to contextualize future requests. For example, users can ask for details about past events or recipes discussed earlier, with Gemini retrieving information from chat history or app data. This feature eliminates the need to repeat context, making interactions more efficient and personalized over time.
The update unifies these capabilities under a single voice-driven interface, allowing users to seamlessly transition between tasks. For instance, a morning query about the day’s schedule can prompt Gemini to fetch event invites, create calendar entries, and even add travel times—all handled by the Spark tool in the background. Access to Spark requires a Google AI Pro subscription, while Daily Brief is available with Google AI Plus.
