NVIDIA introduced the Jetson Orin Nano Super, a handbag-sized developer kit delivering 67 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance, enabling first-time developers to prototype edge AI applications such as computer vision and AI agents without cloud dependencies. The kit supports local execution of generative AI models and is positioned as a practical tool for students, researchers, and hobbyists to build and test real-world robotics projects in classrooms or makerspaces. Examples include autonomous toy vehicles and voice assistants running entirely on-device with GPU acceleration.
The Jetson AGX Orin module offers 275 TOPS of AI performance for more complex workloads, targeting advanced robotics, autonomous systems, and applied research in educational and professional settings. It allows developers to deploy AI models in real environments, such as university labs or startup demonstrations, and supports applications like computer vision, generative AI, and autonomous navigation. Carnegie Mellon University’s robotics team used the module to build a 3D mapping system for time-critical rescue scenarios.
NVIDIA also highlighted the Jetson AGX Thor, designed for tomorrow’s breakthroughs, and emphasized the platform’s role in democratizing AI development by enabling portable, high-performance computing for industries beyond traditional server rooms. The company provided resources like Jetson Device Skills and Jetson BSP Skills to simplify coding and deployment of AI agents at the edge.
The announcement included a series of developer-focused livestreams and examples to guide users in running generative AI, building AI agents, and deploying vision-language models on Jetson platforms. NVIDIA framed the Jetson ecosystem as a tool for transforming industries through accessible, portable AI hardware, from classrooms to startup pitches.
