Former Halo boss is now in charge of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games
Dan Ayoub, former Halo studio head, has been promoted to lead Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games, succeeding John Hight after his departure in July.
Dan Ayoub, previously senior vice president of digital games at Wizards of the Coast, has been named the new head of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Games. His appointment follows the departure of John Hight in July, who held the position for two years. Ayoub will oversee Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Duel Masters, and Hasbro Digital Games, marking a shift in leadership for the company.
Ayoub’s promotion comes as he prepares to manage two major video game projects in development: the sci-fi RPG Exodus by Archetype Entertainment and the action-adventure game Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons by Invoke Studios. Hasbro stated he was selected after a rigorous search involving internal and external candidates, making him the first internal candidate to assume the role.
Ayoub brings extensive industry experience, having previously served as executive producer and studio head at 343 Industries, the studio behind Halo, and as vice president and general manager of Certain Affinity. His appointment reflects a commitment to prioritizing fans and creators while aiming for growth across tabletop and digital platforms.
The new role presents challenges, including a $56 million non-cash impairment recorded earlier this year due to the cancellation of several games expected after 2028. Additionally, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has expressed support for AI integration in future projects, raising questions about the balance between innovation and creative integrity under Ayoub’s leadership.
