The Blood of Dawnwalker's first major update will add directional animal petting and a new story mode that's easier than the previous story mode
Rebel Wolves announced update 1.1 for vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker, adding directional animal petting and a new Story mode with combat assistance.
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s next update will introduce directional animal petting, allowing players to interact with virtual dogs and cats from different angles. This feature builds on the game’s existing directional combat system, though Rebel Wolves has not detailed how the mechanics will function. The studio teased the addition on X, asking what happens when directional combat merges with animal petting, but provided no further specifics.
Update 1.1 will also add a new Story mode designed for players who prefer focusing on narrative over combat. This mode includes an additional combat assist to simplify swordplay, though it will not replace the existing Story mode, which will be renamed Forgiving. Players will also gain the ability to reallocate skill points using the Draught of Mind Rebirth, allowing them to respec abilities without restriction.
Beyond these major additions, the update promises 1,100 changes, including improved combat targeting, better traversal, camera tweaks, and updates to the game’s FrameGen technology. The studio has not indicated whether these changes will address the controversial time mechanic, which may not appear in the sequel.
The Blood of Dawnwalker sold 1 million copies in its first three days, and Rebel Wolves is already developing a sequel. The update is expected to enhance both gameplay and accessibility for players seeking a more narrative-driven experience.
