Co-op roguelite Shape of Dreams launches today on PS5
Shape of Dreams launches today on PS5 alongside The Starless Path, its largest update featuring new content, mechanics, and cross-play support.
Shape of Dreams, a fast-paced roguelite, launches today on PlayStation 5, marking its debut on the platform. Developed by Lizard Smoothie, the game introduces players to the ever-changing dream world of the Rapids, where each entry reshapes the environment. Combat is dynamic, with players selecting from nine unique Travelers, each offering distinct abilities and playstyles. The game emphasizes player choice, allowing deep customization through Memories and Essences that alter core abilities in real time.
The Starless Path, the game’s first Anniversary Update, expands the experience with new systems and content. Players can now explore the Way of Stars, unlocking hidden episodes and illustrations tied to each Traveler’s progression. The update also introduces Cetus, a new ranged frost tank Traveler, and enhances existing world bosses with secondary attack patterns. Cross-play is enabled at launch, enabling seamless multiplayer across PS5, PC, and other consoles without platform barriers.
Combat in Shape of Dreams revolves around synergies between abilities, with players encouraged to experiment with combinations of Memories and Essences. Each Traveler begins with a Traveler Memory and an Identity Memory, which can be customized before each run. The game rewards repeated playthroughs, as progress accumulates in a Traveler’s Constellation, allowing builds to evolve beyond a single descent. The Starless Path adds Universal Identity Memories, enabling Travelers to adopt new progression paths independent of their original traits.
The update also introduces Fallen Stars and Faded Memories, a feature allowing Identity Memories to be swapped for Universal options. Players can tackle the game solo or join up to four-player online parties, where builds complement each other dynamically. The largest update to date, The Starless Path incorporates feedback from over 1.5 million Steam players, refining mechanics and adding new content for PS5’s launch.
