Muramasa: Revenant Blades launches
Vanillaware’s remastered action RPG Muramasa: Revenant Blades launches February 4, 2027, combining the original Vita title with its DLC into a single HD experience featuring new English voice acting.
Vanillaware and Marvelous have announced that Muramasa: Revenant Blades, a remastered action RPG, will launch on February 4, 2027. The title merges the original PlayStation Vita release, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, with its side-story DLC Genroku Legends into a single, refined experience. Visuals have been upgraded to high-definition, and the game now includes new English voice acting alongside improvements to its sword-fighting mechanics. Players familiar with the original or newcomers to the series will find a fresh take on the epic adventure.
Set in Japan’s Genroku era, a time marked by supernatural occurrences, Muramasa: Revenant Blades features six distinct playable protagonists, each with their own narratives and motivations. The protagonists include a character possessed by the cursed sword Muramasa, a vengeful warrior, and a protagonist driven by love. Players can experience the six stories in any order, with each tale unfolding across a beautifully rendered world steeped in the supernatural.
Combat in Muramasa: Revenant Blades emphasizes fluid swordplay, allowing players to chain normal attacks into combos, perform dashes and jumps, and parry or deflect enemy attacks with precise timing. Controls are designed to be accessible while offering depth for veteran players, enabling both simple and advanced techniques. Players can unleash powerful single strikes, wide-area attacks, and ranged attacks with a single button press, combining them to overwhelm enemies in relentless sequences.
The game introduces a forging and training system where players can upgrade weapons and skills. Kisuke and Momohime can forge new swords imbued with powerful abilities, while other characters can train to learn new skills or create charms. Souls collected from defeated enemies fuel these upgrades, allowing players to unlock new swords, improve stats, and master skills. Players can assign up to three mastered skills for ground and aerial combat, switching between them freely to adapt to different playstyles.
