Tails of Iron 2: Blood & Brine – Free Expansion

PlayStation has released Blood and Brine, a free expansion for Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The expansion sends protagonist Arlo to Hardshell Brook, a coastal area featuring 11 quests, 10 new bosses, nine armour sets, and a fishing system with 32 aquatic creatures. Players must complete the main campaign before accessing the expansion, which offers a distinct setting with docks, open water, and new challenges.

The expansion follows Arlo’s effort to help two shipwrecked sailors, Jaimie and Sam, build an aquarium by collecting rare sea life. Fishing provides a calmer interlude between combat encounters, though the region remains perilous. Beneath the surface, threats lurk, and the sailors’ backstory may hold unexpected complications. The expansion introduces ship arena battles, where fights occur on water, adding variety to combat scenarios.

Nine new armour sets are included, including crossover designs inspired by indie games such as Blasphemous, Cult of the Lamb, and Death’s Door. The developers collaborated with independent studios to adapt these designs for Arlo’s medieval rat setting. The expansion also features new music and expanded enemy encounters, both on land and in water.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter – Blood and Brine is available today as a free download on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. To mark the launch, the base game is discounted by 60% on both platforms from August 12 to August 26 as part of PlayStation’s Ready, Set, Play promotion.
