The Frozen Trail update, now live for Arc Raiders, marks the biggest patch since the game’s release, featuring a new map called Pendola Pass set in a harsh icy environment. Players face tougher enemies and unprecedented threats, but new weapons like the Bantam and Stiletto, along with weapon modification options, provide fresh combat tools. The update also introduces gadgets such as a grappling hook for navigation and a camera for capturing screenshots, alongside a player outpost customization system with hundreds of furniture pieces.

Among the smaller but notable changes, the Solo vs. Squads matchmaking mode has been temporarily removed as Embark Studios evaluates its future. Players can now expand their stash size by two additional upgrades, reaching a maximum of 328 slots without bonuses. The ability to open the map while downed has been added, and completing quests and milestones now grants experience points to accelerate leveling.

The Legacy Pass has been replaced by the Frozen Trail Pass, where players earn Reward Points instead for free and premium rewards. Progressing through this pass is now the primary way to unlock items, shifting away from the previous system. Embark Studios has also launched a Twitch Drop event tied to the update, running from October 8 to November 4, offering exclusive attachments for watching streamers play.

Arc Raiders became one of the most played games in 2025, though player numbers declined over time. The Frozen Trail update coincides with a temporary free-to-play period until October 12 at 4 a.m. ET, aiming to attract returning and new players during a surge in extraction shooter popularity.
