Destin Daniel Cretton’s *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* became the highest-grossing domestic box-office film in U.S. history, earning $2.5 billion globally and prompting a 70-day theatrical run before its digital release on Oct. 6. The film’s digital version includes multiple special features, with physical releases arriving Dec. 15. Among the extras is the newly revealed "Live-Action Comics" featurette, which explores how Cretton and stunt coordinator Peng Zhang translated Marvel Comics imagery into live-action sequences.

Cretton used giant printouts of classic comic covers mounted on easels to plan fight scenes, including Peter Parker’s battle with Tombstone, which mirrors the 1988 *Spectacular Spider-Man* cover by Gerry Conway and Sal Buscema. Another sequence, Spidey’s fight with Scorpion, was inspired by Alex Saviuk’s art from the 1995 *Spider-Man Adventures* issue. Cretton noted the challenge of imagining the moments before and after each comic snapshot.

The "Live-Action Comics" featurette also highlights the creative process behind Spidey’s unconventional tactics, such as ending the Scorpion fight by striking him with a piano pulled from a nearby moving truck. Cretton described the exercise as a way to bridge the gap between static comic art and dynamic filmmaking, blending homage with innovation.

The digital release includes several behind-the-scenes featurettes, such as "Tom Holland: Evolving Spider," "Brand New Direction," and "Secret Sources and Hidden Spider Eggs," each offering distinct perspectives on the film’s production. Subtitles are available in English, French, and Spanish, with physical editions priced at $25 for DVD, $45 for 4K Blu-ray, and $150.99 for a premium steelbook version featuring exclusive collectibles.
