PlayStation Officially Reveals Gorgeous New ‘Prism’ PS5 Hardware
Sony unveiled the Prism Collection, a new line of translucent DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in three colors, launching February 4, 2027.
Sony Interactive Entertainment introduced the Prism Collection on Wednesday, a new line of PlayStation 5 accessories featuring transparent designs for DualSense controllers and matching console covers. The collection includes three color options: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray, each with a glossy, translucent exterior that reveals parts of the hardware beneath. The aesthetic draws inspiration from late-1990s electronics trends, giving the current-generation hardware a retro-inspired appearance.
The new DualSense controllers will retail for $84.99 each in the U.S., while matching PS5 console covers will sell for $74.99. Both products are available in the same three color options, allowing players to coordinate their controllers and consoles. Pre-orders open on November 10 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers.
The Prism Collection launches on February 4, 2027, though availability and release dates may vary by region. Console covers will be sold directly through PlayStation in select countries, including the U.S., with limited quantities available through other retailers in some markets. The collection serves as a cosmetic upgrade rather than a new hardware generation.
The announcement comes as Sony faces questions about the future of its hardware, including the eventual PlayStation 6. Reports suggest the next console could arrive in 2028 or 2029, with rising memory costs potentially pushing its price toward $1,000. Sony has also announced plans to end production of physical PlayStation game discs in January 2028.
