The mobile game Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will change its card release schedule from monthly to every six weeks beginning with the upcoming C series, aiming to reduce player overwhelm. The new cadence is part of a broader set of updates announced for the game’s second anniversary, including expanded missions and events tied to pack releases. Developers also plan to introduce immersive cards, obtainable through collections and missions, as well as one-star promo cards unlocked via specific tasks. Special Packs, opened with weekly stamina, will debut with the First Partners pack featuring starter Pokémon from nine regions, adding variety to card acquisition.

A new Community Decks feature will allow players to browse and copy other users’ decks directly within the game, streamlining deck-building and strategy sharing. Rental and starter decks will gain unlimited uses and become available in versus play, enhancing their practicality for competitive and casual players alike. Limited Battles, a restricted card pool event type, will offer accessories as rewards, introducing a fresh competitive format to the game’s ecosystem.

Trading mechanics will see improvements with a new feature enabling players to check which cards a potential trading partner is missing, simplifying the exchange process. These changes follow recent additions like a set guaranteeing rare cards and dual-typing mechanics, reflecting ongoing efforts to refine gameplay. The updates aim to address persistent criticisms of the game’s user interface and overwhelming release pace, which have contributed to player fatigue.

The announcement comes as Pokémon TCG Pocket reports a significant decline in monthly active users, averaging 23 million between April and June 2026—a 41% drop from the same period the prior year. DeNa and The Pokémon Company are likely seeking to reverse this trend with these adjustments, though further improvements to app responsiveness and UI remain a priority for players.
