From Radar to Reasoning: Why Enterprise AI Finally Watches Your Business in Real Time
Salesforce introduces AI systems that continuously analyze live business data to detect issues in real time, inspired by radar’s role in the Battle of Britain.
In 1935, Robert Watson-Watt’s radar system transformed raw radio echoes into actionable battlefield intelligence, enabling operators to track incoming threats before they arrived. This same principle underpins Salesforce’s new AI tools, which aim to convert the overwhelming streams of enterprise data into timely, legible insights. By reasoning over live data rather than historical summaries, these systems seek to identify problems at the moment they emerge, not after the fact.
Deep Insights, one of the new capabilities, scans structured business data to trace issues to their root causes and suggest corrective actions. Moirai, a time-series forecasting model, predicts demand shifts and flags anomalies while accounting for contextual factors like product launches or contract renewals. Together, these tools automate complex pattern recognition that would be impractical for human teams to perform manually.
Salesforce’s Engineering 360 system already leverages Deep Insights to monitor 90 billion records across internal systems, detecting patterns and correlations that exceed human capacity. Alex Hu, Salesforce EVP of Engineering Strategy, notes that the system provides reasoning and explanations that would be impossible to derive at scale without AI assistance.
The approach is also being applied to contact center operations, where forecasting models are reshaping staffing and demand planning before issues arise. Silvio Savarese, Salesforce AI Research Chief Scientist, envisions extending this model to sales pipelines, marketing campaigns, and supply chain monitoring, addressing functions where data volume has outpaced human oversight.
