Samsung Brings Chopin’s Nocturne to Galaxy as New One UI 9 Ringtone

Samsung Electronics has added a classical music ringtone to its latest Galaxy devices, featuring pianist Yekwon Sunwoo’s performance of Frédéric Chopin’s 'Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op. 9, No. 2.' The track was selected to coincide with the release of One UI 9, aligning with the software’s version number. The recording was conducted at Samsung Galaxy Sound Studios within the Samsung Seoul R&D Campus, where the company develops its sound identity.

The performance was overseen by Byeong Joon Hwang and Young Jae Jang of Sound Mirror Korea, with piano tuning by Hyungu Kang to ensure tonal clarity. Sunwoo, the first Korean winner of the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, provided a refined interpretation of the 190-year-old composition. The studio’s acoustics were noted by Sunwoo as ideal for capturing the piece’s delicate emotional expression.

Samsung described the ringtone as more than an alert, aiming to integrate classical music into daily interactions with Galaxy devices. The company emphasized its philosophy of extending sound experiences beyond the device itself, with the nocturne intended to evoke calm and timeless emotion. Myoung Woo Nam, Principal Sound Designer at Samsung Electronics, highlighted the goal of creating special moments through everyday encounters with music.

The new ringtone is available on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 as part of the One UI 9 update. Samsung stated it will continue applying a consistent sound philosophy across its products to strengthen its distinctive audio identity.
