A.X K2가 그려낸 ‘18,776명 독립운동가 기억하길’
SK Telecom launched a digital campaign linking 18,776 independence activists' records to daily life using its AI model A.X K2, featuring 10 running courses nationwide to commemorate their legacy.
SK Telecom unveiled the digital campaign 'Remembering 18,776 Independence Activists' ahead of Liberation Day, using AI to connect historical records of independence activists with everyday locations. The initiative transforms ordinary urban spaces into paths tracing their footsteps, enabling people to walk or run while engaging with their stories. The campaign leverages SKT’s proprietary AI foundation model A.X K2 to analyze activists’ activities and combine location data, creating 10 running routes across the country.
The campaign video, released on August 10, features celebrities and athletes including singer Seon, marathoner Lee Bong-joo, musical actress Hong Ji-min, and the granddaughter of independence activist Lee Gyo-ok, along with SK Telecom CEO Jeong Jae-heon. They retrace the activists’ paths on representative courses, emphasizing the importance of using domestic AI to preserve Korea’s independence records. The video highlights A.X K2’s role in reconstructing historical movements by analyzing 18,776 activists’ records and identifying meaningful connections between their activities.
SK Telecom is promoting a running challenge tied to the campaign, with routes and participation details available via the RunDay app. Participants who complete a course or leave encouraging comments on the official YouTube video can enter a draw to win a spot in the '2026 Infinite Challenge Run in Gyeongju.' Additionally, the Cheonan Independence Memorial Hall will screen the campaign video and distribute maps of the 10 routes to visitors during its August 15 special exhibition.
The campaign encourages the public to explore nearby routes, turning familiar cityscapes into pathways to remember the 18,776 activists who contributed to modern Korea. By using A.X K2 to link scattered records and locations, the initiative restores their stories to the places where they once fought for independence, inviting reflection on their sacrifices this Liberation Day.
