독파모 경쟁력 넘어 모두가 쓰는 일상의 도구로… SKT ‘모두의 AI’ ― 유경상 AI CIC장 칼럼
SK Telecom introduces ‘모두의 AI’ to embed AI across daily life, leveraging its A.X K2 foundation model and full-stack infrastructure to balance performance with practical deployment.
SK Telecom has launched the ‘모두의 AI’ initiative to integrate AI into everyday services, positioning itself through a full-stack approach combining models, services, and infrastructure. The company highlights the shift in AI competition from model size to efficient deployment and real-world problem-solving, emphasizing both technical performance and practical usability. SK Telecom recently unveiled its A.X K2 model with 688 billion parameters and secured participation in the government’s third-phase foundational AI project, underscoring its commitment to advancing both capability and real-world applicability.
The company argues that owning top-tier models is essential for shaping technology direction and enabling broader diffusion into lightweight and industry-specific AI solutions. However, SK Telecom notes the gap between model development and the creation of AI services used by millions daily, positioning ‘모두의 AI’ as the bridge to close this divide. Its experience operating the AI service ‘A.’, which has surpassed 10 million monthly active users, demonstrates the operational expertise required to deliver reliable, large-scale AI solutions.
SK Telecom’s A.X K2, despite its scale, employs techniques like Mixture of Experts and adaptive reasoning to manage costs and performance for mass usage. The company stresses that optimizing inference economics—through algorithmic efficiency and hardware-level adjustments—is critical to sustaining service at national scale. This vertical integration, from chips to services, is framed as a core competitive advantage in delivering practical AI solutions.
The next phase for AI, according to SK Telecom, is moving beyond answering questions to executing tasks and delivering end-to-end results. The company is building an open ecosystem with over 20 partners, including 11 firms with signed MOUs, to expand collaboration and expertise. By combining A.X K2’s technical strength, domestic-scale AI infrastructure, and A.’s user base, SK Telecom aims to create an AI accessible to all while laying the groundwork for Korea’s next AI challenges.
